Mahindra has recently announced its future plans in the country, under which the company is preparing to launch a full range of vehicles in India by 2026. One of the most interesting upcoming cars from Mahindra is the 5-door Mahindra Thar. Maruti Suzuki introduced its Jimny (5-door version) at the Auto Expo 2023 in January and also started taking bookings.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny is getting good response from the customers. It is also to be launched soon. But, its road is not going to be easy as a 5-door version of Mahindra Thar is also going to come. Currently Mahindra Thar is sold in three-door version but its 5-door version has been spotted several times during testing. However, the timeline of its launch is not yet clear. It is expected that it can be launched in the middle of this year.
Apart from this, Mahindra XUV700, New Generation Scorpio, Kuv100 Electric are also included. The teaser campaign of the XUV700 has already started and its global debut is likely to happen in the coming weeks. The new model will come with a longer wheelbase and will also get more space in the cabin (than the existing 3-door Thar).

It will be more practical than the current 3-door model. According to media reports, the 5-door Mahindra Thar can get a metal or plastic hard top and the soft top option can be removed. It will get alloy wheels with chunkier spokes, new types of sleek side steps can also be found. When launched, it will completely rival the Maruti Jimny.

Let us tell you that in October last year, the company launched the second generation of Thar and it has emerged as a successful SUV for the company. Its waiting list in many cities is going on for several months. However, this SUV is focused on off-roader drive. The new Thar is built on a new architecture and retains the three-door body style.
The Mahindra Thar 5-door version is likely to get the existing powertrain options only. Which will be in line with BS-6 Phase-2. However, no information regarding its powertrain options has been revealed yet. Let us tell you that Mahindra recently also launched the RWD version of Thar, which can be continued in its 5-door version as well. That is, the new Mahindra Thar will not only come in a 5-door 4X4, but it can also come in a RWD setup.
