The new stand has been built in honor of the present CM MK Stalin’s father. Late Karudhanidhi served as the Chief Minister of the state five times between 1996 and 2011.
At the same time, Tamil Nadu’s Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin was also present in this ceremony. Simultaneously, in preparation for the 2023 50-over World Cup, the famous MA Chidambaram Stadium, India’s second oldest stadium after Eden Gardens, underwent renovation.

The new stands will be available to the general public for the third and final ODI between India and Australia on March 22. Karunanidhi was a regular attendee of sports at Chepauk throughout his political career. He was elected as an MLA from there during his last two terms as Chief Minister.
Let us tell you that Chepauk Stadium is the home ground of Chennai Super Kings. Also, it is being said that Dhoni will play his last IPL match at this ground.
