In a recent interview with Arbaaz Khan, Mahesh Bhatt discussed his struggle with drinking. The director described an occasion when he was so inebriated that he spent the night on a sidewalk. He recalled how the birth of his second daughter, Shaheen, altered his life.
Mahesh Bhatt appeared in a new episode of The Invincibles hosted by Arbaaz Khan. He described the time when he and his older brother Salman Khan had to drop him off at home. “You were so inebriated that your father told you to go home. We attempted to transport you home via taxi. You have forgotten your address. We were both ashamed and giggling. Arbaaz said Mahesh, “Since then, you’ve made a 180-degree turn.”
The director responded, “One day I awoke to find myself sleeping on the sidewalk of the JVPD plot. I recall having my face on the ground as dawn was barely breaking. I realized that I had attended a party and had fell asleep on the road. I recall walking up to my home when I lived with Soni. She stated: What occurred to you? I responded, “I don’t know, I’ve turned into an alcoholic.” Then a miracle occurred. My first child was born to Soni and Shaheen. When I arrived at the hospital and was holding Shaheen in my arms while attempting to kiss her, I had the impression that she had moved away. She could not tolerate the odor of alcohol. She couldn’t have done anything because she was a baby, but I hallucinated and projected that she did. That was decisive.”
Mahesh Bhatt has 4 children. Pooja and Rahul Bhatt are his first two children from his first marriage to Lorraine Bright (Kiran Bhatt). His daughters from his relationship with Soni Razdan are Shaheen and Alia Bhatt.
Sadak 2, starring Pooja Bhatt and Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, and Aditya Roy Kapur, was Mahesh’s most recent film.
